Backyard Ecologists - Summer Camp (Ages 8-9)

Embark on an unforgettable backyard adventure! In this camp, you'll become a nature explorer, uncovering the secrets of local ecosystems. From fascinating plants to curious critters, you'll discover how every part of nature is connected. Get ready to head into the field with your very own nature journal—perfect for recording your observations, sketching wildlife, and capturing the beauty of the natural world around you. Every day will be filled with new discoveries and hands-on fun!

Payment
Payment must be received at least ONE week prior to the first day of
camp to confirm your reservation. Reservations unconfirmed by payment will
be offered to persons on a waiting list.

Attendance
Staff will be available 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the camp day and for
15 minutes after the end time to facilitate the sign-in and sign-out requirement.
Please ensure campers are dropped off and picked-up on time. All pick-ups and drop-offs will be at the main entrance of the Nature Center at Shawnee Prairie Preserve unless otherwise notified. Campers will not be permitted to leave or be sent home with any person other than you or the alternate adult indicated on the emergency form. Any change in the alternate must be provided in writing to park staff prior to releasing the camper.

No refunds for missed sessions or early departures.

PARENTS OR GUARDIANS SHOULD PLAN ON

STAYING 10 MINUTES THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Camper Needs:
> Daypacks/Backpacks: Great for carrying raingear, water bottles, and treasures from activities.
> Sunscreen: Apply at home. DCP staff will not provide or apply sunscreen.
> Raingear: Campers will be outside in all but severe weather. Include raingear in the daypack.
> Insect repellent: If desired, apply it outside before arrival. DCP staff will not apply repellent.
> Clothing: Campers will be outside and likely get dirty. Dress for the weather and comfort.
> Footwear: No sandals. Sturdy shoes provide protection and comfort on (and off) park trails.
> Water bottles: We may be away from drinking fountains for the day. Bring a water bottle.
